About Dianne...

Dianne Marguerite Humphrey (nee Trythall), born on October 11, 1948 in Toronto, ON, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at home on November 14, 2022. She is survived by Wayne, her loving husband of 50 years, daughter Alisa (Brandon), son Steven (Sheryl), faithful dog Jaxon, sisters Pam (Al) and Susan (Brian). She was predeceased by her parents Roy and Marguerite (Peggy) Trythall.

Dianne moved to Victoria as an infant when her father opened his dental practice. She was an exceptional scholar, and was the first woman to win the Governor General's Gold Medal for being the top student at the University of Victoria (UVic). Her greatest joy was teaching, which began at UVic, and continued for over 30 years in the Biology and Environmental Technology Departments at Camosun College. Unwilling to fully retire, she continued advising and teaching for institutions such as the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific. She was a dedicated volunteer for Needle Arts and Crafts at the Saanich Fair for well over 40 years. She and Wayne travelled all over North America in their truck and camper, and explored the waters along the coast of BC in their various boats. Their adventures included international travel, where they especially enjoyed trips to Portugal, Turkey, and Australia, but most recently, they have enjoyed their time at their family property in Qualicum, BC. Dianne was a fixture in the dog walking community at Centennial Park and Island View Beach in Saanichton, BC.
